Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality. – Lewis Carroll
Imagination leads you onto the path of creativity, towards the reality you wish to create.
Without imagination there is no escape, from the constant stresses of life. Without imagination there is no future, there is only what already exists and no way to fly beyond such.
And so the big bad monster reality becomes overwhelming, managing with time to trap us inside our own heads on the losing side of this never-ending war with reality.
But with imagination, we become armed to deal with the world, to imagine, and change the world as we see fit, soaring high with absolutely nothing standing to stop us for long, ultimately becoming able to win this so-called war against reality.
The world is but a canvas to the imagination. – Henry David Thoreau
Anything you can imagine can come true, if you so paint it to be that way. You see, the world is not what puts limitations on us, we are the only ones who does that. So if we’d only look at the world as a canvas to our imagination, there’d be no dream unrecognizable, no star unreachable, and no change impossible.
I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient of living. It’s a way of thinking that allows you to look at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, and that enables you to laugh at life’s realities. – Dr. Seuss
Nonsense is not simply nonsense, when done well, nonsense can be quite the stimulus to prompt new thoughts, and so should not merely be discounted as useless. Similarly, fantasy is not simply meant for children. Fantasy provides a new way to look at life, a way to find all the curiosity and wonder of life’s realities. And through nonsense and fantasy we find a better quality of living able to find something fun in everything and laugh at life in all its horrifying complexities.
You can’t depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus. – Mark Twain
What you think you see may not be what is actually there.
For example, following a traditional pattern of thought a plant in a yard could be categorized as simply an unwanted weed, but to those with imagination, that same plant could be a beautiful flower.
So, if you lack imagination, the world seems more a dull, deceptive place, only presenting itself to you on a very shallow surface level. But with a good sense of imagination, you become able see deeper, and the world becomes beautiful in all its glory.
They who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night. – Edgar Allan Poe
In the night, your dreams are completely out of your control. You might end up doing something normal like attending a family dinner that didn’t actually ever happen or you might end up slaying dragons and saving the princess from the castle. It’s not what you want or anything you’d ever imagine awake.
But in the day, your dreams are what you make of them. Whatever you wish for, dream of, is what you really want. These dreams are your hopes and your future. And those who dream awake are more alive, because they have something to work towards, to want. And so, those who dream by day are more cognizant of their day seeing as they work to make every second of every day count towards their dreams.
So, which would you like to be? A dreamer by day? Or a dreamer by night? I’d like to know.
What is now proved was once only imagined. – William Blake
Without that person long, long ago imagining that things could possibly be any different than the vast majority of the population had thought it to be, we wouldn’t have half of the knowledge or understanding or inventions of today.
Think about it. Things like the computer, the airplane, or simply the fact that the Earth revolves around the Sun and not the other way around, would have never become possible had their respective discoverers and inventors simply gone along with the traditional thoughts with no imagination to the contrary.
And so, imagination is one of the most important things we have, as the progress of the individual, of mankind as a whole, such things are only made possible when we are not afraid to imagine that which could be.
Here in your mind you have complete privacy. Here there’s no difference between what is and what could be. – Chuck Palahniuk
You’ve seen a bumblebee right? This? Well, aerodynamically, that bee shouldn’t be able to fly. But it can, because no one ever told the bumblebee that it couldn’t fly. So, the bumblebee imagined it could, and it did.
And that, is exactly what you should do. Everything that seems so impossible to you really isn’t impossible. You see, with the right amount of imagination and drive, one can do anything.
So, here in your mind, you’ve got complete privacy, dream big and reach for the stars, you’ll get there someday if you persist and work hard.
I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free. – Michelangelo
We are born with a completely blank slate, there is nothing in the way of who we are just yet. And so, you’ve got to imagine all that you can be, see the angel in a sense in who you are now. And you’ve got to carve and carve and carve until you’ve become the person you’ve always imagined you could be, and so set your angel free.
My alphabet starts with this letter called yuzz. It’s the letter I use to spell yuzz-a-ma-tuzz. You’ll be sort of surprised what there is to be found once you go beyond ‘Z’ and start poking around.
How many people really look beyond what is already established as normal and working? How many of us actually try to poke around past ‘Z’? Right, so why don’t we?
Why can’t we imagine past what’s already possible? Who’s to say we won’t stumble upon something revolutionary? Exactly.
So, let’s do it. You and I both. Let’s find our own letter called yuzz and think beyond what we already have. We just might be surprised what we can find.
Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire; you will what you imagine; and at last you create what you will. – George Bernard Shaw
Everything ever invented or created was once only possible through someone’s imagination. Everything. And so, without imagination, our world wouldn’t be half the world it is today in all it’s wondrous glory.
Without somebody sitting there, imagining what could be, there never would have been anything past what was already there, given by nature.
And with that, I say, let us imagine! Let us explore the realm of not what is, but what could be! And likely, not just maybe, that will signal the start of something beautiful.
Things are only impossible until they’re not. – Jean-Luc Picard
You imagine your dreams are impossible, too wacky, to wild to ever be recognized. But in thinking so, you only limit yourself needlessly.
You see, things are only impossible until they’re not. So, just try, try and you’ll see that you it’s not that you couldn’t do it, it’s that you didn’t think you could.
It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see. – Henry David Thoreau
Simply looking at something, not giving a second glance, doesn’t mean you actually see everything there is to see within it. There are things that you cannot detect simply by looking.
Sometimes the hardest things to find are hidden in plain sight and you’d be surprised all the beauty and wonder you can see just looking a little deeper.
Everything you can imagine is real. – Pablo Picasso
Reality is what you make of it. That’s to say what is and isn’t impossible is entirely up to you, and so with enough determination and persistence, anything you could ever imagine, you can make real.
The man who has no imagination has no wings. – Muhammed Ali
With imagination comes direction through having dreams and knowing exactly where we want to go in life. Without imagination, we’ve got no direction, no dreams, and nowhere to go. Thus, since we are all birds ready to take off and soar in any direction we choose, without imagination, without direction, our wings are clipped.
I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge. – Robert Fulghum
Knowledge speaks of what is. It tells you what is possible, what has already been done, and how to go about doing such things. But knowledge does not speak of that which could be.
Imagination takes you wherever you want to go, to places uncharted, to feats never done before, imagination is everything knowledge is not. And so, in it’s unbelievable possibility, imagination is stronger than knowledge, because with it, there is not a single thing in the whole wide world you can’t do.
All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.– T.E Lawrence
Dreaming only by night, the zombies stay stuck in the dull trap of everyday life. They continue on like this, day in and day out, without a single ounce of imagination to dream of anything better.
But, the dreamers, on the other hand, are quite dangerous. For all they see in their dreams at night, for them are not simple vanities. These dreams carry into the day, revised and edited to the dreamer’s content, these dreams do not end when morning comes.
Rather, the dreamer, only imagining what could be, not bothering with that which already is, may act on these dreams with their eyes open, to make make them real. And it is that virtue, that and nothing else, that makes the dreamer truly alive.
Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try! – Dr. Seuss
It’s amazing the ideas you can come up with using just a bit of imagination. With a little imagination, there is no problem you can’t solve and nothing you can’t dream up. And who knows, with a little imagination, you just might stumble upon something revolutionary.
There is no life I know to compare with pure imagination. Living there you’ll be free, if you truly wish to be. – Roald Dahl
Reality grounds you, it limits you to what already is and can be done. But imagination, on the other hand, it sets you free, it lets you soar and explore everything that could be and everything you might think impossible.
Real life could never compare to something so liberating as imagination. For, with a bit of imagination and lots of hard work, if you truly wish to, you can mold your reality into anything you want it to be.
When you cease to dream, you cease to live. – Malcolm Forbes
Without dreams or aspirations, a person’s life becomes meaningless. They simply trudge on, just existing in this dull state of nothingness, not ever truly living.
You see, being alive is more than just being able to breathe with a heart still beating. Being alive is to have meaning in a life completely yours, and without dreams, without imagination and your will to work towards something, you’ve got nothing, no meaning.
And so, when you cease to dream, you cease to live.
The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. – Eleanor Roosevelt.
How can the future be different when no one has imagination to want to make it so? You see, those who dream hold great power, for they have a reason to change the world. And that is what makes imagination so powerful. For without it, there is no future, only the same dull existence filled with mindless zombies simply existing, but not alive.
And so, the future belongs to those who dare to dream.
So, what do you dream of? Please tell me in the comments, I’d really like to know.
